We are having a performance issue with category filtering via the categories tab (the one on the map). We have over 2500 markers on the map. When you click on one of the checkboxes in the category tab, the browser window becomes unresponsive for several seconds. Often long enough to see the “Pages unresponsive” alert asking if we want to quit the long running script. The filtering will eventually succeed after one or more Waits, but that is not the kind of experience site visitors should have.
Unfortunately, I won’t be able to give access to our site since it’s on an intranet. I’ve taken the following steps to mitigate the situation and it is still there:
- Fresh install of WordPress 4.9
- Fresh install of WP Google Map Plugin 4.0.7
- Only plugin activated is WP Google Map Plugin
- Active theme is Twenty Sixteen, without any customization

I think you have assigned hundreds of location in a single category that's why you are facing this issue. OK, we have to inspect it at our end and let you know. Can you send me your CSV file at email@example.com so we can import your location and test your issue at my end?

Thanks for the quick answer, sorry for the late reply. I myself don't have access to this intranet unless I'm on my client's premises, which happens about once a week. I've just asked them and it won't be possible to send you their data. It is sensitive and confidential.
That being said, your hypothesis about our setup is correct: we do have categories with hundreds of markers in them. We have 12 categories, here's the number of markers from highest to lowest: 1643, 491, 319, 165, 36, 18, 13, 7, 7, 5, 2, 1. Other relevant info: default zoom level is 11, map height is 640px. This setting allows all markers to show on initial page load. Note that the behaviour presents itself even when deselecting the category with only 1 marker.
Another probably related issue, observed in Chrome and Firefox: on initial drawing of the map, at first all markers appear, then majority of them disappear. If I zoom in or zoom out, all markers reappear.

That was almost 4 weeks ago. We were'nt sent an updated copy of the plugin and no new public version is available yet so we're still stuck with the same problem. Any progress?

thank you for the updated plugin, I downloaded it and test it a little on our map. It seems better but sometimes I still have an error for waiting the markers to be showed.
So I was wondering, is it possible to have a message while the plugin do his job by adding the selected markers (for example, I have somes categories who got more than 400 markers.) ? Like a waiting message as "Please wait until the complete loading of the selected markers", or a loading icon to help the user understand that it's on process ?
