When I add a custom avatar (image from media libary) via WP User Avatar, it keeps cropping it to 80×50 dimensions, despite the original dimensions being 300×300. I figured it would scale down and maintain the 1:1 ratio, but it isn’t
How can I get avatars to remain square?
Image source as shown from the console is "/wp-content/path/to/image-80x50.jpg", where the 80x50 seems to be part of a generation process.
I removed the "80x50" portion so that the source could point to the original image, and the avatar then showed how I wanted it to (square).
So it looks like my goal here is to remedy whatever image processing is happening with WPUA to prevent it from cropping.
You can control it from Settings > Media > Thumbnail Size which is default wordpress functionality. Please check screenshot for more information.
BTW, I was able to fix it by reducing the size of the original image to 85x85, but would like to remedy larger images.
Yeah. you need to uncheck it if you don't want to get it working though it'll apply on your whole wordpress setup.
Thanks for the help!
Is there a way to disable whatever engine is processing/cropping the images? I guess the check box should work, but it hasn't for me.
The link I provided (in private reply) is still relevant. See image still cropping to 80x50.
We have checked it and found that wordpress always create thumbs according to size setup in Settings > Media though you can get original image to display easily by passing $size = 'original' in to get_avatar function. you can see details here http://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/get_avatar
I hope it helps you.
