Your plugin converts special characters to “?” (question mark) Can you please help, it is urgent.
Are you importing CSV with these characters? or adding these manually in Add Location? Please let me know how exactly you're getting this issue.
I have the same problmes with french characters.
I'm working on it now and getting you back.
I found that this issue is happening when collation property of location_title and location_message columns are not utf8_general_ci in the wp_map_locations table in mysql.
1. Using PHPMYADMIN - So you just need to change collation property to utf8_general_ci for location_title and location_message columns.
2. Using Queries - You need to run following queries using phpmyadmin or using $wpdb object.
ALTER TABLE wp_map_locations MODIFY location_title varchar(255) CHARACTER SET utf8 COLLATE utf8_general_ci;
ALTER TABLE wp_map_locations MODIFY location_messages text CHARACTER SET utf8 COLLATE utf8_general_ci;
3. Delete all tables related to this plugin and install the plugin again.
If you can send me wp login, i can remove all the tables related to this plugin and then can reinstall the plugin to solve this issue.
Yeah. It'll be fixed in next version releasing this week.
I have the same issue (2 years later).
I cant export correctly the locations that have characters like
ß, Ø, ô
In the website and in the db they are correctly saved, but when I export them to csv, they're all messed up:
I have already applied the fix you wrote above, but I can't delete the added locations, since there are too many and Im NOT adding them all over again.
I think you have not updated your plugin yet to the latest version 4.0.1. Please update it.
The plugin is updated to v 4.0.1 already.
Have you tried adding those letters in the address of a location, then tried to export it?
